Bronagh & David - Lough Neagh

We started this session off at Bronagh's parents home in Coalisland with a picnic down the back field...i love when couples think of ideas and make an effort with a few props (you don't want to overdo it mind) and think about clothing, it really makes all the difference. I loved Bronagh's red jacket and cute scarf, it added a splash of colour and David's knitted jumper was classic but stylish.

Bronagh's parents house is just down the road from Lough Neagh, so we headed that way for a few more.

This couple were so natural and loved up, i really can't wait to their big day!

May will soon be here!

What to wear on our engagement session/pre-shoot?

One of the most common question's i get asked is - What will i wear?

Well it is entirely up to you, as i am no fashion icon(i have a slight shopping addiction though) but i do feel some planning should be done, after all you didn't pick any wedding dress did you? These photographs should be important as well, they will tell a story of this stage of your life together.

Consider carefully what you’ll wear so you and your fiance will really pop off the backdrop. You can bring a change of clothes, wear something you feel comfortable lying down, jumping, hugging, and moving around in. But also consider the colors, shape, and patterns that will look the best recorded. Dark colors or brights (which are also slimming) are best.

For location why not try a field, a coffee shop, an urban street setting, or even your home.
If stuck for ideas, I can help and plan. Give me some clues on your interests, fave colours, hobbies etc.

Props these can bring a playful twist to any shoot - vintage cameras, umbrellas, luggage, hats, chairs....the sky is the limit! But try to pick objects that have a meaning or connected to your theme or interests.

The girls...

Many shots will be full-length, so make sure you wear great shoes. If you’re more comfortable in black or neutral clothing, try bright, colorful shoes! They really pop and catch the eye in photos.

When it comes to beauty, remember that bright makeup will make a bigger impact on film that a natural face and neutral shades, which can look washed out. If you’re feeling conservative, rosy cheeks, a bright lip stain and a soft brown eye are always in style. Of course, if you have a signature look, such as red lips or winged black eyeliner, show it off! And don’t forget your manicure!

Dresses are always a great choice! I love a girl pretty dress with gorgeous shoes. And as for your groom-to-be, don’t get too matchy-matchy. His outfits should complement yours.

The men...just a few ideas of on trend tops i like :)

Keep it simple, be comfortable but avoid hoodies and lots of branding - you don't want it to date.

Finally, just relax and let loose. Kiss, hug, climb a tree, give him a piggyback ride, lick a lolly! I love how shoots have evolved from a studio portrait or single bridal portrait to the carefree, colorful shoots of today! Obviously i still do studio shoots but if the weather is good - get outdoors!

Julie & Mark - Castlewellan Forest Park

We did this shoot just last week, it was quite windy and overcast but we still enjoyed our walk and chat round the forest and then a wee cuppa coffee after - it didn't feel like i was working at all!

Mark proposed in this forest along the lake edge, so lots of special memories here for them both.

Only a few weeks till the big day!

Fiona & Gareth - The Mournes

What can i say?
I will not say much, as the images speak for themselves.
The Mournes, is certainly an area of outstanding beauty and i am so lucky to live close to them (well a wee 40 minutes spin in the car) but i am spending Easter here with Jonny and Guinness, so lots of walks and hopefully i will not lose my leg in a swamp like i did on this day. Fiona and Gareth live 5 minutes from here, lucky huh?

By far one of my favourite pre-shoots...ever.

Very much looking forward to this lovely couples big day!
